Announcements for the week of 11/27/23

Announcements

Every year we get a count of how many students intend to return to PAPA next school year. The number of students who do not intend to return then determines how many seats we have available for the lottery. The Intent to return is available on our website and here  https://forms.gle/QeoUYPqDt7MTsyFq5. Please let us know if you will be returning to PAPA for the 24-25 school year. If we do not receive the form we will mark you as declined and give your seat to another student. The deadline to submit is 12/15/23.

Guys, gals, and enby pals! GSA’s Donation Drive for the Transgender Resource Center starts today and runs through December 1st. You can donate during middle school or high school lunch- just look for the GSA table by the cafe. You can also donate online, take a look at PAPA’s social media for a video to show you how! We will be keeping track of all donations by first period teacher and the class that donates the most will win a donut party, kindly provided by Krispy Kreme.

Thank you to all the video submissions about what it was like to receive kindness. Here are a few standouts: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1eLr4wBMzqQQuPHhr8Nyj_jIb70Ge9A0Y/view This week we are asking students to share what it felt like to show kindness to someone else. Students can again tag our school in social media posts or upload to the Flipgrid assignments in Google Classroom.

Health & Wellness

The SEL focus for December is about helping others and our community.  This is related to a term called “social mindfulness.”  Social mindfulness means making decisions based on what is good for others and their needs (as opposed to only thinking about our own needs).  Our ability to form healthy relationships and bond socially with others is an important aspect of our mental health.  This also impacts our physical health. Attached is an article from Psychology Today about social mindfulness.  It is an interesting, quick read.  Enjoy!
