Census/Attendance/Survey
September 14, 2020
Dear PAPA Families, I hope all is well with each of you, everyone is healthy and all students are learning! We are now six weeks into the 2020-21 school year! There are three items I will address in today’s letter. First, if you have not registered for the census, please do so! The news reported about 20% of NM residents have not yet completed it. Funding for New Mexico is dependent on accurate census counts. Please go to I Count NM (https://www.icountnm.gov/) to participate. Second, the Attendance for Success Act is a new law that changed how schools take attendance, intervention to improve attendance and attendance monitoring/reporting. As a result, PAPA’s attendance policy needs to be updated and is now open for public comment. Please click on the attachment to see the draft policy and send comments to me at mchavez@paparts.org before 9/28/20. Policy Link here: http://shorturl.at/eprL0 Third, as New Mexico schools begin to open, I would like your feedback about opening PAPA in the coming month(s). Please complete the short survey and submit as soon as possible. Keep in mind that PAPA will only re-open if/when we can meet the guidelines set forth by NM Public Education Department, the Department of Health and the Governor’s Office. Survey link: https://forms.gle/cLSta87Mevk2YzHe6. If you require translation of the survey, please call the office. Sincerely, Melanie Dunn-Chavez, Executive Director |
