Dear Parents:

Thank you for your support and encouragement this year!  Your children have successfully navigated the oddities of life.  I am excited to report PAPA had no positive COVID cases on campus during the time we were fully open.  That is a testament to your diligence and the implementation of COVID-safe procedures.

Below are a few new items to help you prepare for next year.  First, the state is requiring each school to keep record of dental exams. This is a quote from a memo I received in April from NMPED.  “2021-2022 school year– Schools are required to verify evidence of student dental examination prior to enrollment, or parents are to sign a waiver indicating they understand the risks associated with opting not to have their student receive a dental examination.”

Second, your child needs to have appropriate vaccinations prior to registration. Please see the link for a list of vaccinations required at https://www.nmhealth.org/about/phd/idb/imp/sreq

Third, COVID vaccines are also now available for students 12 years and older. You can register your child at: https://cvvaccine.nmhealth.org/.  The PED is asking us to report students who have had the COVID vaccine.  Please let us know at info@paparts.org when your child is fully vaccinated.

Finally, we are already looking forward to an exciting 2021-22 school year, IN PERSON!  Yahoo!! Final student registration will follow the schedule below. In mid-July, we will email fillable forms and more detailed information with a Sign Up Genius link for final registration. The final registration process will be much shorter if all forms are completed and submitted prior to arriving. If you have more than one child, bring all your children to the oldest child’s registration time.  It is important that a parent attend with their child in order to complete registration paperwork, submit updated shot records (if not already on file), approve/adjust schedules, and pay activity fees. Activity fees will be charged for new PAPA students only.  Fees paid last year for existing PAPA students will be rolled over for 2021-22. If your child wants a locker, he/she needs to bring a combination lock with the combination to registration.

All staff will welcome 6th graders and all students new to PAPA during Jump Start on August 10, 2021.  Students will attend from 7:55am to 3:18pm (there is no 8th period on this day).  Students will report to the Café where they will break up into transition and orientation groups.  New students who want to audition for advanced performing arts courses will do so on that day.  New students will receive hearing and vision screenings.  Lunch service will be available.

School for everyone resumes Wednesday, August 11, 2021 with PAPAFest.  All students are required to attend from 7:55am-3:18pm regardless of having an alternative class schedule (no 8th period).  We have a great day planned to ensure that students and staff have a well-informed, motivational start to the school year!  We will have different activities and workshops throughout the day.  Students will report to their first period classes (or the Café if they don’t have a first period) by 7:55am.  Regular class schedule starts on August 12, 2021.
