Audition Information for New to PAPA Students
You’ve already been accepted into the school, but to ensure your commitment to the arts and determine placement, all incoming students will need to audition. We’re super-excited to meet everyone!
FOR NEW STUDENTS TO PAPA:
If your child comes to school on April, 5, they need to be prepared with a one-minute (or less) audition in any arts genre. This can be in music (vocal or instrumental), dance (ballet, contemporary, flamenco, hip-hop, or jazz), theatre (monologue, a dramatic reading, a comedy act, a poetry recitation, a musical theatre piece, or a film clip). Visual art can be in the form of a slide show or a portfolio. This also helps us determine beginning, intermediate, or advanced course placement.
IF YOUR CHILD CAN’T ATTEND IN-PERSON ORIENTATION:
Students will do the same thing, just by video. Videos should be shot horizontally on a cell phone and be one-minute (or less).
- All students must “slate” at the beginning of their video: state full name, grade student is going in to and what they are doing for their audition
- Audition (including the time to slate) should be one minute or less.
- Send video to: firstname.lastname@example.org and include this in the subject line: AUDITION (student name, student incoming grade, performing arts genre)
- See FAQ from Ms. Montoya, Performing Arts Coordinator, for more information about video submissions.
