Are you stressed about your upcoming assessment? Do your friends need some encouragement? National Honors Society introduces you to friendship grams! Friendship grams will be sold April 4th- April 8th during middle and high school lunch for only $2! They include a pencil and a bouncy ball to brighten up your day! Parents, you may purchase your child a gram in the front office. Friendship grams will be delivered to 4th period classes on Monday April 11th.

Musical Theatre Presents: “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” An eclectic group of six mid-pubescents vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming “ding” of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter; one speller leaves! At least the losers get a juice box. The show runs 04/07-04/09 at 7 PM with a special PG matinee at 2 PM on the 9th! Are you a soprano or alto with a great voice and desire to further your singing capabilities. Have you been active in singing organizations here at Public Academy for Performing Arts or others outside of school. Do you have basic skills in reading music? Do you play another instrument? Do you have the determination and passion to be part of Les Chanteuses (Treble Choir). Would you like to have the opportunity to do some travel? Come see Mr. Torrez during 4th period or during Lunch and audition. Audition includes singing a song of your choice, vocal exercise, sight reading and basic singing skills and range check. Open to 8th through 12th grade (next year students). Good luck! Auditions will go through April 15!

Once Upon a Time Prom is April 23, 2022, for sophomores, juniors, and seniors and Salt Yard East. Come see us at lunch to reserve your spot! ALL GUEST FORMS MUST BE COMPLETED AND TURNED IN BY APRIL 15 OR YOUR GUEST WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO ATTEND. You can buy your tickets now and then turn in the form later.

The Public Academy for Performing Arts Governing Council is seeking to fill 2 possible positions. Interested candidates are encouraged to submit a letter of interest that details why you are interested in serving on the Governing Council as well as background information and skills that you feel are relevant to the needs of the Public Academy for Performing Arts. A complete resume is also required. Please submit your letter of interest and resume to: Michael Power, Chair, Governing Council Nomination Committee no later than April 13, 2022. Nomination committee interviews will be scheduled shortly after the April 13, 2022, deadline.

It will be presented to a student or students who consistently demonstrate qualities of compassion for school peers and members of the greater community. The recipient(s) must have provided unpaid service during the current school year for at least (2) two organizations not affiliated with the school. Community service is not limited to performing arts, although it is highly encouraged. Award recipient(s) must also attend at least one community-based workshop, conference or event promoting social justice, diversity, safety, non-violence, or healthy habits. Staff, students, or community members can nominate students for this award. A nomination form is available in the office. A committee assigned by administration will determine the award recipients.
