Happy New Year! Welcome back!

Today students will participate in mini-workshops throughout their day to re-set for semester two we call PAPA-Fest Take 2. Topics of the day include the creation of a PAPA graduate and learner profile, health, nutrition, sleep, google classroom, PowerSchool, email etiquette, school-wide behavior expectations, vaping/opioid prevention, goal setting, and uniting mindfully.

The next 8th-period lite is scheduled for 1/18/23. There will be no 8th period during 8th-period lite so that teachers may meet in their professional learning groups. Students with 8th period on their schedule that cannot get picked up after 7th period can participate in a study hall in the cafe. Semester 2 8th period lite dates: January 18th, February 15th, March 15th, April 19th

The PAPA lottery window is open now through February 16, 2023. Help spread the word to prospective students to enter the lottery. We will host an open house for perspective students on campus on January 25th, 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm.

PAPA Students can go see UNM Theatre and Dance Shows for only FIVE DOLLARS! Use the code UNMtheatreanddance (all one word) either online or at the ticket window on UNM campus. Check out the schedule of shows in the MS and HS Google Classroom.

The climate crew meets every Thursday during Middle school lunch from 12-12:20 in Mrs. Cunningham’s room-room 11. Anyone interested is welcome to join us.

Attention! singers, dancers, and actors! Open Auditions for High School Musical Theatre’s production of Mama Mia! will be held during 8th period on January 12th and 13th. You must sign up in order to audition. Please look for Mama Mia! Audition Posters hung around campus and scan the QR code to fill out the audition form. If you already signed up last semester or if you can’t scan the code, talk to Mr. Heard and he’ll take care of you. Don’t miss out on your chance to dance, jive, and have the time of your life in this musical set to 1970s pop.

Jan 6th- Are you bringing a guest to PAPA Winter Ball? Guest forms are available across from the office next to the PAPA call board. Guest forms are due to the front office by Jan 6th. Don’t wait!

Shout-out to 6th Grade Math Students!! Congratulations, your class moved from 48% being on or nearing target to 80% being at or near target! We are so proud of you!
https://www.covid.gov/tests staff and students’ families that at-home Covid-19 tests can be ordered for free through the federal program. Every household can order 4 free tests, this can be a great layer of support in helping your school and community stay safe this winter.

Alongside is a free nonjudgmental mental health chatbot that helps in times of stress anxiety sadness anger try it today. Alongside is a virtual counselor in every student’s pocket. It allows schools to reach all students who need support. Students must use their school email to access alongside when they log in. alongside.care

Attention students, are you looking for a unique way to wish your friends a happy birthday, a way to ask them to a dance, a PROMposal, or just a happy day? Les Chanteuses is getting ready to sing telegrams. Look for more information on school posters and get ready for some fun.

Athletic Shoe Drive Please send in athletic shoes to donate to the front office on January 4-February 24th
