PAPA Celebrates Black History Month!
Charles Hamilton Houston served during World War 1 as an artillery officer.  He witnessed and endured racial prejudice inflicted on black soldiers.  He became a lawyer and his past experiences fueled his determination to use the law as an instrument of social change.  As a major player in dismantling state and locally enforced laws promoting racial segregation (known as Jim Crow laws), Houston became widely known as the “Man Who Killed Jim Crow”.  He didn’t stop there.  He worked to mentor a generation of black attorneys, including the future Supreme Court Justice, Thurgood Marshall.  Houston devoted his entire life to Civil Rights!  His fruits of his efforts are still evident today.
