End of September Updates!

On Friday, October 18, PAPA will host its annual PAPAPalooza Fall Fundraising Festival.  Doors are open from 4:30  through 6:46 pm (4:00 for limited activities).

Here is a link to a Sign Up Genius with things we need for the PAPAPalooza Fall Festival.  Please click the link and see what you may be able to help with.  It would be wonderful if you are able to donate to our event, and even better if you know a business or community group that can donate! Please help spread the word.  We can’t wait to see you at PAPAPalooza October 18th!

PTSO is asking for mystery bag donations and donations for the basket raffle.  Please donate gift cards/certificates and items in good condition for our Mystery Bags and Auction/Raffle baskets. See the PTSO section of the website for flyer, donation form, our tax exempt letter, and more info.  Link: http://www.paparts.org/policies-forms-2/

Please use caution when dropping off and picking up at PAPA.  When you use either of the circles, pull forward as the car in front of you leaves.  Some parents are parking in parking spaces and then nearly backing into students and other cars. There is also much congestion on Muriel, please do not block the road.  Regardless of where you are dropping off/picking up, BE CAREFUL and patient.  We have had too many close calls!

There are several items of importance in the upcoming November 5 election.
a.  Three APS Board of Education candidates will be elected to represent the following districts:  1 (Atrisco Heritage Academy and Rio Grande High School areas), 2 (Cibola and Volcano Vista high school areas) and 4 (Highland High School area).  The APS Board of Education is responsible for approval/oversight of the district’s budget, setting policy, shaping the strategic direction of APS, and employment of the superintendent.  As an APS Charter, it is important to elect candidates who understand and support charters.  Please research candidates and vote!
b.  There will also be Mill Levy and Bond Election questions. If approved there will be NO tax increase for residents.  PAPA’s construction project is not a specific line item for this election.  We do, however, benefit from approval with SB9 and HB33 monies.  These funds help support PAPA’s campus maintenance (PAPA leases this facility from APS), equipment and technology purchases, security, and small construction projects that will help prepare PAPA for future construction. I will send more information closer to the election.

Finally several policies are now open for public comment.  Please review and send comments to mchavez@paparts.org by October 15.

Thank you in advance for your support.
