Congratulations to PAPA’s Musical Theatre Cast and Crew!

This Saturday PAPA students from the cast of The Wizard of Oz participated in the Enchantment Awards, a statewide musical theatre competition for high school students.

PAPA was the only school represented by both middle school and high school students, and the only school without its own theatre space to participate in the Broadway League competition. Out of the 13 schools competing across the state, PAPA was nominated for several awards: Best Ensemble Performance, Best Director, Best Production, and Best Supporting Actress.

Over the course of two weeks, several of our students participated in evening and weekend rehearsals with scores of cast members from schools around the state to put on a spectacular night of musical theatre performances. Camryn Wharff (nominee for Best Supporting Actress), Maysie Kilgore (nominee for Director’s Choice), and Joseph Harb (nominee for Director’s Choice) took the stage with dozens of other students in spectacular medley’s of song and dance from hit broadway shows.

Maysie Kilgore, Camryn Wharff, Trinity Moffett, Joseph Harb, Brandon Curley, Ciara Barnett, Estella Smith, Brooke Kapuscinski, Jacob Peltz, Jasmine Radfarr, Darian Radfarr, Eden Hettler, and Angelo Behrens also performed a selection from the Wizard of Oz to represent PAPA in the Best Ensemble Performance category.

Though PAPA did not take home a prize this year, being nominated for so many awards and performing on Popejoy stage with the top theatre talent from around the state was an incredible experience. PAPA’s theatre production staff couldn’t be more proud of our hard working students, and their ability to represent the best of the talent in high school musical theatre across the entire state of New Mexico.
